Alumni 5K in honor of Kate Waldron was a fun time for all
The Dublin Alumni 5K in honor of Kate Waldron was held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011. Over 175 runners, walkers, kids and volunteers joined us for a morning of fitness, food, music and family fun, all while raising money for educational funds! Awards included top three males, top three females, top boy (kid's run), top girl (kid's run), silliest hat, best dressed BUCKEYE, as well as oldest and youngest Dublin alumni finishers. View 5K results here!
Kate Waldron was a 1999 graduate of Coffman High School, a long-time Dublin resident and a city employee at the Dublin Community Recreation Center. Kate sadly lost her life in November 2008 in a tragic car accident. Admired by everyone whom she met, Kate is deeply missed by her friends and family. She leaves behind her parents, her two sisters and her three young children, Haley, Kevin & Austin. The Waldron children are a part of our Dublin City Schools family & will be future Dublin Alumni!
Proceeds from the 5K go toward both the Dublin Education Foundation and Katie's Angels, an education fund. Pictures and details to follow soon. THANK YOU to all who made this event successful including our participants, volunteers, sponsors and the Waldron family.

In other outreach initiatives, the Association is proud to have partnered with Harris Connect to produce the first-ever Dublin City Schools Alumni Directory. They are have just recently been distributed across the United States.

Thousands of alumni across the country participated in the production of the directory by offering their contact and biographical information in the premier edition.
Graduates of Dublin City Schools now have a great resource in addition to the alumni association to keep in contact with fellow alumni. This project was a great success. We will generate another edition in a few years. To ensure you're listed, join the alumni association as a member and we'll be sure you get all the details early.
Questions about the project should be directed to Kevin Simmons, Alumni Association Director.
